DNA evidence used to make arrest over horse dumping
Authorities investigating the illegal disposal of Equus caballus bodies inward a California county used deoxyribonucleic acid analysis to brand an arrest, it has been revealed.
San Joaquin County agricultural crimes detectives arrested Robert Deleon Decker, 27, on Friday. He faces 2 counts of illegal carcass disposal.
Detectives sent deoxyribonucleic acid samples taken from 1 of the dead horses to the University of California, Davis, Veterinary Forensics Laboratory. It is unclear whether the samples sent for analysis were Equus caballus deoxyribonucleic acid or human deoxyribonucleic acid removed from the carcass.
Lab technicians produced information that ultimately enabled detectives to position the Equus caballus owner, together with a warrant was later obtained for Decker’s arrest.
Both dump sites were inward unincorporated areas of the county.
