Three of the world’s exceed score dressage horses bring been retired from the sport inwards recent weeks.

Isabell Werth has announced the retirement of her 16-year old Hanoverian gelding Warum Nicht FRH, who fractured his pelvis inwards June 2012 together with has non been able to recover plenty for a comeback.

The injury was sustained piece inwards his stable, together with it was revealed a os inwards his hip was fractured.

Warum Nicht FRH (Weltmeyer x Wenzel x Monday Cherie) was bred yesteryear Hinrich Lüssen together with owned yesteryear Madeleine Winter-Schulze.

Warum Nicht – known equally Hannes at home,  after his onetime passenger Hannes Baumgart – was a large winner for Werth during his career alongside her, from 2003.

• Imke Schellekens’ 18-year-old Hanoverian mare Sunrise (Singular Joter x Werther) is to live retired to stud. Sunrise, who is owned by the Smarius family, was injured inwards 2010 together with took many months to recover, missing the 2011 season. Her lastly world appearance was at a preparation seminar at the Bartels Academy before this month.

Sunrise was runner-up to Warum Nicht inwards the 2007 World Cup dressage finals.

• Canadian rider Jacqueline Brooks farewelled her long-time partner Gran Gesto at a retirement ceremony at Toronto’s Royal Horse Show this week.

Gran Gesto together with Brooks were on Canadian teams from the 2003 Pan American Games through to the Olympic Team inwards 2008.
