High-profile New Zealand racing possessor Bernard “Barney” McCahill died lately at the historic current of 84.

McCahill, whose boy Bernie played 10 test matches for the All Blacks, owned or part-owned several top racehorses,
including the neat stayer Castletown who won 3 Wellington Cups – inwards 1991, 1992 in addition to 1994 –  and an Auckland Cup (1992) in addition to placed in the Melbourne in addition to Sydney Cups. He too won the New Zealand Derby inwards 1989.

The wonderfully genuine Mickey’s Town, the Gr.1 winner of the Captain Cook Stakes, was closed to other top-flight performer piece Hot Ice was a Group winning sprinter-miler.

He too shared inwards the ownership of the outstanding Group One winner McGinty and the multiple Group winner Irish Gaelic Rover.

McCahill passed away at his habitation on August 16 after a brief illness.
