Badminton blog: until next year …

A few days accept passed since Badminton Horse Trials, too it’s been keen sorting through my many photos, reliving the event. 

I was thus lucky too privileged to live at the event, too to accept the chance to live business office of the accredited media  contingent. The riders are thus fantastic amongst media, too I bask the fellowship of the other journalists too photographers.   It’s also keen to live in that place amongst the rookies from NZ Media, too help them learn the finer details sorted out, give them approximately background information too listen that they didn’t realise that “eventing was thus pop too thus exciting!”

Apparently the media coverage of Jock’s win dorsum inwards New Zealand has been phenomenal too that’s keen to hear. The English linguistic communication papers did parent it, a pocket-sized column inwards the sports section, no photograph either. Guess having few Brits inwards the top twenty meant they were non real interested.

Badminton is a particular event. It was fifty-fifty to a greater extent than particular amongst the weather condition too amongst the Kiwi successes.  Other highlights for me were:

Favourite horses:  Avebury, Nereo too Ringwood Magister (ridden past times Tiana Coudrey from the USA).  Nereo is a truthful athlete, a machine! Avebury is a real cute pony too, too would likely live my personal favourite of the whole event, but because of his cuteness appeal. It was also fantastic to meet Lenamore out inwards the arena for i lastly time. His retirement ceremony was real moving, too he looked similar he wanted to produce a circular of showjumping, non but a lap of honour.

Horsey Surprises: Michael Jung’s Sam is quite a evidently looking horse. When nosotros offset saw Michael on him hacking him out on the Thursday, nosotros were non certain that it was the superstar. But learn him inwards the arena, he’s dynamic! He was also real dynamic after the event, having an absolute “hissy fit” earlier the prize giving parade.  The groom had him on a lead, Michael was riding him too he was going backwards into the crowd at a keen rate. In the end, it was sensibly decided it was best for Michael to learn to the prizegiving on his feet.  The commentator quipped that Sam “objected to coming second”.

Lenamore’s retirement ceremony was inwards the chief arena.

Favourite riders:  The Kiwis of course.  All of them. Such stars, thus obliging, thus polite to all the media, too thus popular!

Favourite moment:  When Jock realised he had won. In the media mixed zone, many people turned away from the television, thinking Michael had won. That pole seemed to come upward downwardly inwards dull motion, in that place was a suspension too thus CHAOS! The members of the Press could non live contained inwards their restricted zone, too everyone raced to live around Jock inwards the collecting ring. It was a pop win. Jock was struggling to realise what had happened I cry upward – fifty-fifty at the subsequently press conference he all the same seemed similar a possum inwards the headlights. When he was handed the drinking glass of champagne (a Badminton tradition), he looked thus surprised.

Worst moment: Leaving the effect for the lastly time.  I didn’t desire it to live over.

Regrets:  Not getting plenty fourth dimension to pass amongst people – both novel friends too onetime ones. Not getting plenty fourth dimension to produce to a greater extent than shopping! There were thus many shops I didn’t fifty-fifty see!
