Famous names – Equus caballus together with human – inward Irish Gaelic Equus caballus sport were recognised this calendar week at Horse Sport Ireland’s Breeders Awards, amongst a transcend honour going to the breeders of electrical current World Cup Jumping champion Flexible.

The HSI 2012 Breeders Awards took identify on Tuesday at the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, Co. Wexford.  The Breeders Awards, which were held following the Irish Gaelic Horse Board Co-Op AGM, highlighted the best of Irish breeding together with honoured the breeders of transcend shape Irish Gaelic Sport Horses together with Irish Draught Horses.

Catherine and Edward Doyle, breeders of the Irish Gaelic Sport Horse stallion Flexible (ISH), were awarded ‘Breeder of the Top International Showjumping Horse’.  Flexible, ridden yesteryear U.S. of A. passenger Rich Fellers, has had an incredible twelvemonth inward 2012, winning the Rolex FEI Showjumping World Cup at the historic menses of sixteen years together with finishing inward 5th identify inward the WBFSH World Rankings for showjumping horses.

The honour for Breeder of the Top International Eventing Horse was awarded posthumously to the belatedly Dr Donal Geaney, Castleisland, Co. Kerry, breeder of Irish Sport Horse gelding Mr Medicott.  Mr Medicott, ridden yesteryear Karen O’Connor (USA), recorded transcend v finishes inward all 3 of his international outings this year and ranked 1st in the WBFSH 2012 eventing rankings.

The 2012 Outstanding Contribution Award was awarded posthumously to Ms Iris Kellett. Iris Kellett had a tremendous influence on Irish Gaelic equestrianism.  She became a identify lift inward 1949 when she won the Princess Elizabeth Cup at White City, London.  Twenty years after she went on to win the Championship of Europe. Following her competitive career Kellett devoted herself to teaching equestrianism. In sharing her expertise inward Equus caballus breeding, production, training and contest Irish Gaelic was an inspiration to generations of Irish breeders riders. She died inward March 2011 at the historic menses of 85.

“Irish Sport Horses have achieved to a greater extent than or less outstanding results inward 2012 including transcend performances at the London Olympic Games, a win at the Rolex FEI Showjumping World Cup and reclaiming 1st place inward the WBFSH studbook eventing rankings,” said Alison Corbally, HSI’s Director of Breeding together with Programmes.

“The HSI Breeders Awards are a bang-up chance to admit the breeders of these outstanding horses who are contributing thus much to Irish Gaelic Sport Horse breeding.”

A sum of xiii awards were presented at the HSI Breeders Awards.
