Cassovia, a Przewalski mare from Prague Zoo who was transported end twelvemonth to the Mongolian reservation of Khomiin Tal, has given nascency to a filly foal.

The nascency went smoothly, the zoo inward the Czechia reported.

In June end year, the zoo transported iv Przewalski horses – Cassovia, Lima, Kordula in addition to a stallion Matyáš – to the Mongolian reservation of Khomiin Tal to revive the smallest of the iii Przewalski Equus caballus populations inward Mongolia.

The mission has been a success.

Cassovia was born on August 26, 2006 inward Košice Zoo, inward Slovakia. Her father, Xeron, from Prague Zoo, was placed inward Košice inward August 2005, equally purpose of a breeding programme.

Prague Zoo manager Miroslav Bobek said the nascency was a dainty gift to reach the get-go anniversary of the horses’ journeying to Mongolia.

“Cassovia gave nascency to a foal in addition to both Lima in addition to Kordula are pregnant.”

A minute foal has since been born.

Prague Zoo has been playing a cardinal purpose inward saving the Przewalski horses from extinction.
