Masterton man airlifted to hospital after horse mishap

A paramedic together with other personnel ready the injured homo for winching aboard the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

A Masterton man, 19, has been flown to Wellington Hospital later his mountain rolled over him close Te Whiti, inwards the Wairarapa. It appears the Equus caballus lost its basis on steep ground.

The Life Flight Westpac rescue helicopter responded virtually 8.45am today amongst a Wellington-based rescue chopper crew, including a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic.

The airplane pilot was able to hover the helicopter about the ground, allowing the paramedic to pace from the helicopter amongst his medical gear.

Once the man’s injuries were stabilised, the yoke were winched dorsum to the helicopter together with the homo was flown to Wellington Hospital.

“It for sure wasn’t his lucky day,” Life Flight sailor Dave Greenberg said.

“As I empathize it, the homo was riding a Equus caballus through a steep gully when evidently the Equus caballus slipped, throwing the homo off the horse, together with and hence the Equus caballus landed together with rolled over the man.”

The victim is said to travel suffering from pelvic injuries.
